This website is dedicated to arguably the most iconic vehicle that ever carried passengers on British roads. Designed to take advantage of the post-war boom in coach travel and the planned network of motorways, the "Gay Hostess" brought a style and elegance to coach travel never before seen.
The site has two main aims:
1. HISTORY - a broad overview of the life and times of the "Gay Hostess"; why they were built and what they did. What was it like to travel on these wonderful vehicles?
2. RESTORATION - Standerwick 25 is the sole survivor of these iconic vehicles. It forms part of the collection of the Ribble Vehicles Preservation Trust (www.rvpt.org), but needs extensive renovation work to restore to its former glory.
